BP Safety Violations Linked To Norway Fire: Watchdog

Law360, New York (January 5, 2012, 1:30 PM EST) -- BP PLC’s disregard for numerous safety regulations contributed to a dangerous fire on its North Sea-based Valhall PCP drilling platform over the summer that easily could have turned deadly, Norway’s petroleum watchdog concluded Thursday.

BP breached regulations related to fire and gas protection, risk assessment, machinery maintenance and other issues, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway found, wrapping up its official investigation of the incident.
