Law360, San Diego (January 05, 2012, 5:27 PM ET) -- Units of financial services technology provider Fiserv Inc. on Thursday lodged a suit in Florida federal court claiming rival Fidelity National Information Services’s payment management products infringe at least three patents.

Fiserv subsidiaries CheckFree Corp. and CashEdge Inc. brought the complaint against Jacksonville, Fla.-based Fidelity National, also known as FIS, and FIS unit Metavante Corp.

The defendants directly compete with Fiserv’s units for customers of financial and payment solutions, according to the suit. But instead of competing fairly, the plaintiffs assert, the defendants are exploiting the...
