ITC Targets Sony, Others In Blu-Ray Patent Investigation

Law360, New York (January 05, 2012, 8:46 PM ET) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission announced Thursday that it will investigate of Sony Corp., Panasonic Corp. and other manufacturers of Blu-ray disc players in response to allegations that the companies are infringing a media interfacing patent.

The commission said it would probe allegations lodged by Walker Digital LLC that dozens of Blu-ray makers have infringed a patent that allows home viewers to access supplementary information about a movie while watching it.
