Cash-Strapped Mets Deny Bankruptcy Rumors

Law360, New York (January 06, 2012, 4:28 PM ET) -- The New York Mets on Friday sought to tamp down speculation that the team’s hiring of a prominent financial consulting firm foreshadowed a bankruptcy sale, denying reports the franchise was considering such a move.

The cash-strapped team said its hiring of CRG Partners Group LLC — which orchestrated the bankruptcy sale of the Texas Rangers — did not signal a bankruptcy filing, a day after the team announced that it had tapped CRG to "provide services in connection with financial reporting and budgeting processes."
