House Eyes Bill To Fund Infrastructure With Oil Leases

Law360, New York (January 9, 2012, 5:54 PM EST) -- The U.S. House of Representatives will soon take up a bill that would fund infrastructure projects by expanding leases for oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico and federally protected Arctic land, Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, said Monday.

Boehner said the House would consider the legislation, which would increase offshore oil and gas leases and open up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge for oil drilling -- a nonstarter with many congressional Democrats.
