Calif. Court Kills Sierra Club's Bid For Vehicle Ban

Law360, Chicago (January 10, 2012, 5:58 PM EST) -- A California appeals court ruled Monday that the Sierra Club had failed to show that the state's Department of Parks and Recreation had a duty to ban off-highway vehicles from a stretch of coastal property the group claims is a nonvehicle "buffer" area.

Shooting down the Sierra Club's effort to revive its bid for a ban, the appeals court found the green group lacked standing because it had never presented a timely challenge to the permit under which the parks department operates the property at issue....
