CPSC Touts Partnership To Block Unsafe Products At Ports

Law360, San Diego (January 10, 2012, 9:27 PM EST) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Monday its joint efforts with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection have prevented hundreds of millions of units of potentially harmful products from reaching consumers.

Based on their work screening imported products at U.S. ports in 2010 and 2011, the agencies have stopped more than 6.5 million units of approximately 1,700 different children’s articles that raise safety concerns or fail to meet federal safety standards from moving on to store shelves, according to the commission.
