Artist Tells 2nd Circ. Usher Ripped Off Her Song

Law360, New York (January 10, 2012, 7:58 PM EST) -- A singer-songwriter who claims R&B singer Usher plagiarized one of her songs for a 2004 album on Tuesday asked the Second Circuit to revive her copyright infringement case, saying the district judge ignored key allegations.

Wadena Pyatt claims “Caught Up,” a song on Usher's 2004 album “Confessions,” infringes her own copyrighted song of the same name. Her suit also names recording artist Alicia Keys as a defendant, claiming her recording company passed Usher the song after flirting with the idea of signing Pyatt in 2002....
