Panel Gives Senate To-Do List On China Import Safety

Law360, New York (July 18, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Addressing recent concerns over the safety of Chinese imports, consumer groups, manufacturers and regulators on Wednesday told a Senate committee that United States food and consumer product protections needed to be radically revamped.

The hearing in front of the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science & Transportation, comes after months of high-profile recalls of a variety of Chinese imports, from toothpaste to tires, and bans of Chinese imported foods, such as fish and protein powders.
