Ecuador Denies Violating Order In Chevron Pollution Fight

Law360, New York (January 11, 2012, 7:33 PM EST) -- The Ecuadorean government on Monday challenged Chevron Corp.'s claim that the country had violated an international tribunal's interim order blocking enforcement of an $18 billion judgment against the company in a long-running legal battle over pollution in the Amazon rain forest.

Ecuador disputed Chevron's assertion that it had not complied with a February ruling in the Permanent Court of Arbitration at The Hague, which ordered the government to take all measures at its disposal to prevent enforcement of the judgment in the so-called Lago Agrio action....
