Power Plants, Texas Topped GHG Sources In 2010: EPA

Law360, New York (January 11, 2012, 10:30 PM EST) -- In 2010, power plants were the industry with the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions and Texas was home to the largest number of greenhouse gas-emitting facilities, according to a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency report released Wednesday.

According to the EPA, power plants accounted for 72 percent of greenhouse gas emissions reported in 2010, leaps and bounds beyond the second-place industry finisher, petroleum refineries, which emitted about 6 percent of the reported emissions. Chemicals caused 5.4 percent of the emissions, the agency said.
