Solicitor General To Weigh In On LA River Pollution Suit

Law360, New York (January 17, 2012, 2:44 PM EST) -- The U.S. Supreme Court asked the solicitor general Tuesday to weigh in on a case seeking to determine whether Los Angeles County and its water authority allowed polluted water exceeding federal pollution standards to enter U.S. waterways.

The high court is seeking the solicitor general’s input on whether the U.S. Court of Appeals erred by ruling that engineered channels and other human modifications to a river can render part of a river non-navigable under the Clean Water Act.
