Oracle Mostly Ducks Arbitration In Java Rights Row

Law360, New York (January 20, 2012, 1:38 PM ET) -- A California federal judge on Tuesday barred Myriad AG from trying to force arbitration on Oracle America Inc.'s intellectual property and unfair competition claims in a lawsuit stemming from a software licensing dispute over Oracle's Java technology.

U.S. District Judge Saundra Brown Armstrong issued a preliminary injunction prohibiting Myriad from pursuing arbitration on Oracle's claims in the suit, with the exception of a breach of contract claim, saying the matter had already been decided in an earlier ruling.
