Law360, New York (January 20, 2012, 3:57 PM ET) -- House Democrats on Friday called for hearings and an investigation into an Allergan Inc. surgical weight-loss device as well as mesh used in vaginal surgeries made by Boston Scientific Corp. and others, citing concerns over serious medical complications.
U.S. Reps. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., John Dingell, D-Mich., and Diana DeGette, D-Colo., wrote a letter to the House Committee On Energy and Commerce's Republican leadership, seeking document requests and hearings on Allergan's Lap-Band and on urogynecologic surgical mesh made by a number of medical-device makers.
