Standard Chartered Pays $74M For Stake In Commodity Co.

Law360, New York (January 20, 2012, 4:23 PM EST) -- A private equity arm of Standard Chartered Bank has acquired a minority stake in Africa-based commodities distributor Export Trading Group for $74 million, the global bank announced Friday.

The deal values the agricultural supplier and chain manager at over $500 million and the funds will help the company expand into new geographies beyond the its core bases of Sub-Saharan Africa, India and China, according to the U.K.-based Standard Chartered.
