Google Attorney Settles Accounting Case With SEC

Law360, New York (July 20, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- David C. Drummond, Google Inc.’s top attorney, has resolved accounting allegations by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission over his work at software company SmartForce PLC, where he once served as chief financial officer.

Drummond is among four former SmartForce executives who will pay $2.3 million in disgorgement, interest and penalties to settle claims that they inflated earnings by $127 million, according to the SEC on Thursday.
