FERC Issues License For NY River Tidal Power Project

Law360, New York (January 23, 2012, 8:33 PM EST) -- The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on Monday issued a pilot commercial license for a tidal energy project in New York City's East River that could generate up to 1,050 kilowatts of renewable electricity.

The project, known as the Roosevelt Island Tidal Energy Project and the work of marine renewable energy firm Verdant Power LLC, would generate electricity using hydrokinetic energy technology that harnesses the power of waves and tidal forces.
