Obama Taps Democrat Trial Lawyer For CPSC

Law360, New York (January 24, 2012, 7:02 PM EST) -- President Barack Obama on Monday nominated Michigan trial lawyer Marietta S. Robinson to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, a move that would restore the agency's leadership to a Democratic majority.

If the Senate approves Robinson, she would replace Thomas H. Moore, a Democrat, on the five-member commission that regulates more than 15,000 household products that could pose health risks to consumers, including power tools, toys and chemicals.

The commission had been evenly split between the two parties since Moore stepped down in October.
