Fed. Circ. Backs Dow's $62M Verdict Over Plastic Patents

Law360, New York (January 24, 2012, 3:39 PM ET) -- The Federal Circuit on Tuesday upheld a $61.7 million damages verdict that found Nova Chemicals Corp. infringed two plastic technology patents owned by Dow Chemical Co., saying a federal jury had substantial evidence to support the ruling.

In a 2-1 decision, the appeals court affirmed a Delaware federal court’s judgment that supported a jury verdict finding Nova’s plastic resin products infringed Dow’s patents covering polyethylene resins used in packaging.
