Anonymous Attacks FTC Website, Citing Anti-Piracy Actions

Law360, New York (January 24, 2012, 6:06 PM ET) -- The Federal Trade Commission shut down one of its websites Tuesday following an ambush by the hacker group Anonymous, which is protesting recent anti-piracy initiatives and the government's shutdown of the file-sharing website Megaupload.com.

Anonymous targeted onguardonline.gov, a cybersecurity news blog run by the FTC. An Anonymous member posted FTC officials' contact information, which was purportedly swiped from a database on the site.
