Spring Bonuses Likely On Tap, But Could Be Short-Lived

Law360, New York (January 25, 2012, 8:03 PM EST) -- Expect the spring bonus bonanza that swept through several BigLaw firms in 2011 to repeat itself this year, but don't bet the ranch on it expanding throughout the industry, especially if the economy remains shaky, legal industry experts say.

Sullivan & Cromwell LLP set the spring bonus trend in January 2011 by announcing April payouts of up to $20,000, and Cravath Swaine & Moore LLP one-upped the firm with its own bonuses, also topping out at $20,000 but offering higher payouts for certain associate classes....
