Pfizer Triumphs Over Drinkmaker In Viagra Mark Dustup

Law360, New York (January 25, 2012, 1:09 PM ET) -- The General Court of the European Union ruled Wednesday that Polish company Viaguara SA cannot trademark its name for its line of alcoholic and energy drinks due to the similarity of Pfizer Inc.’s Viagra mark.

The EU court’s decision upholds the ruling of the trademark and design registry for the EU, the Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market, which previously refused to register Viaguara as a community trademark based on opposition from Pfizer, the court said in a statement.
