House GOP Threatens To Subpoena DOI Drilling Ban Docs

Law360, New York (January 26, 2012, 1:37 PM EST) -- The House Natural Resources Committee threatened Wednesday to subpoena the U.S. Department of the Interior to obtain documents that allegedly show the agency doctored a report to imply that independent scientists had backed the Obama administration's six-month ban on offshore drilling in 2010.

Committee Chairman Doc Hastings, R-Wash., said the DOI never properly responded to an April 2011 request for documents, including drafts of the 30-Day Safety Report that supported the Obama administration's moratorium on new drilling in the wake of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill....
