Chevron Caused $20M Of Damage To Gas Pipeline: Suit

Law360, New York (January 30, 2012, 6:57 PM ET) -- Northwest Pipeline GP sued Chevron Mining Inc. in Wyoming federal court last week, saying Chevron's intensified coal mining came too close to a natural gas pipeline and dangerously undermined its structure.

Utah-based Northwest alleges that work done at Chevron's Kemmerer, Wyo., coal mine caused the earth surrounding the line to move, placing stress on the piping and leading to cracks that made it necessary to relocate the pipeline, a project Northwest said would cost more than $20 million, according to a Jan. 23 complaint.
