Cheniere Notches 20-Year KoGas Export Deal

Law360, New York (January 30, 2012, 2:58 PM EST) -- Natural gas giant Cheniere Energy Inc. announced Monday it has signed a 20-year deal to sell Korea Gas Corp. 3.4 million metric tons per year of liquefied natural gas from its huge Gulf Coast plant, which Cheniere hopes to make the centerpiece of its export plans.

The move is a big boost for Cheniere's plans to turn America's huge reserves of shale gas into an exportable commodity, and to use its Sabine Pass terminal — North America's biggest by regasification capacity — to do it....
