J&J, Merck Take Heat Over L’Oreal Sunscreen Patents

Law360, New York (January 30, 2012, 2:50 PM ET) -- L'Oreal SA on Friday sued Johnson & Johnson Inc. and Merck & Co. Inc. in Delaware, claiming the two health product companies infringed its patents covering sunscreen technology.

In separate suits filed in Delaware federal court, L’Oreal claims Johnson & Johnson brands Neutrogena, Aveeno and RoC, as well as Merck’s Coppertone brand, infringed two patents that cover processes used to filter out UV rays.
