Bayer Seeks to Block Pfizer's Bovine Drug With IP Suit

Law360, New York (January 30, 2012, 8:20 PM ET) -- Bayer HealthCare LLC asked an Illinois federal court on Monday to block fellow pharmaceutical giant Pfizer Inc. from marketing a newly approved bovine respiratory disease treatment that Bayer says infringes one of its patents.

The company is seeking an emergency temporary restraining order and a permanent injunction to protect its own single-dose bovine respiratory disease drug, Baytril, from looming competition from Pfizer's Advocin, a single-dose fluoroquinolone injection expected to hit the markets Feb. 13.
