Ex-NFL Players' Concussion Suits Merged Into MDL

Law360, New York (January 31, 2012, 3:50 PM EST) -- The U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation on Tuesday consolidated in Pennsylvania four lawsuits against the NFL stemming from injuries, including long-term effects from concussions, sustained by now-retired players while they were playing professional football.

The panel transferred three actions from California federal court to join a proposed class action pending in Pennsylvania federal court at the league's request and with the plaintiffs' support. The panel said it had also been notified of 16 additional, potentially related suits.
