EPA To Revise Chemical Plant Emissions Standards

Law360, Washington (January 31, 2012, 6:34 PM EST) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is reconsidering its national emissions standards for chemical companies in an effort to tailor regulations for certain smaller manufacturers, according to a notice posted in the Federal Register on Monday.

The proposed revisions to the rule will affect types of chemical manufacturing businesses and could change requirements for certain companies concerning permits, leak inspections, process vessel lids and covers, vents, and manufacturing a family of materials, as well as standards for startups, shutdowns and malfunctions, the notice said.
