Law360, San Diego (February 01, 2012, 6:32 PM ET) -- The Federal Circuit on Wednesday determined that a lower court improperly limited the claims of a patent asserted against vibrating game controllers by Playstation maker Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC.
The three-judge panel vacated a stipulated judgment that Sony did not infringe inventor Craig Thorner’s patent covering a tactile feedback system for computer video games. It remanded the complaint, finding that the judgment was based on a New Jersey district court’s claim construction that unfairly narrowed the patent terms “attached to said pad” and “flexible.”...
