China's CIC Nabs Minority Stake In Energy Investor EIG

Law360, New York (February 02, 2012, 12:03 PM ET) -- China's state-owned investment company has acquired a minority stake in Washington-based private equity firm and asset manager EIG Global Energy Partners LLC, continuing its string of energy and infrastructure-related buys, EIG confirmed late Wednesday.

After recent investments in South Africa's coal sector and British sewage and water, the investment in EIG will give China Investment Corp. exposure to European wind, Texas midstream assets, Gulf Coast drilling and solar power in the American west.

Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
