GAO Scraps Protests Over $73M Medicare Auditing Contract

Law360, New York (February 03, 2012, 7:27 PM ET) -- A Blue Cross Blue Shield subsidiary adequately addressed possible organizational conflicts of interests that threatened to impact its $73.5 million Medicare auditing contract, according to a U.S. Government Accountability Office decision published Thursday that dismissed protests by two rival contractors.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services awarded the contract to Cahaba Safeguard Administrators LLC in April, tasking the contractor with providing Medicare and Medicaid auditing services for the states of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin under the Zone Program Integrity Contractor...
