Dyson Threatens Patent Actions To Block Rivals: Suit

Law360, New York (February 03, 2012, 6:07 PM ET) -- The designer of a bladeless fan on Thursday accused Dyson Ltd. of using fraudulently obtained patents to threaten rivals' potential customers and suppliers with litigation in order to monopolize the market for safer fans.

Cornucopia Products LLC recently designed a bladeless fan inspired by a now-expired 1981 Japanese patent, but Dyson and U.S. subsidiary Dyson Inc. have restricted the company's sales and market access by threatening to sue customers and suppliers based on fraudulently acquired patents, the suit filed in Arizona federal court claims.
