AMD Pens Deal With Company Targeting Chip Industry In Patent Suits

Law360, New York (February 23, 2005, 12:00 AM EST) -- Chip maker AMD has agreed to purchase stock in Patriot Scientific Corp. and sign a licensing deal to buy the rights to a technology at the center of Patriot’s patent litigation against Intel and other companies in the semiconductor industry.

AMD confirmed it bought restricted shares of Patriot stock, obtained rights to make and sell Patriot's IGNITE 32-bit stack microprocessor and obtained rights to the controversial "ShBoom" microprocessor patent portfolio in its entirety.
