Law360, New York (February 03, 2012, 7:22 PM ET) -- A Nevada federal judge preliminarily blocked Las Vegas singer Monroe Powell from using the name of 1950s vocal group The Platters on Wednesday, handing a victory to founding singer Herb Reed in his decadelong quest to regain rights to the name.
U.S. District Judge Philip M. Pro ruled that Reed had shown he would likely prevail on the merits of his trademark infringement suit against Powell, who has been performing as "Monroe Powell and the Platters."
