Law360, New York (February 06, 2012, 4:33 PM ET) -- As the country's first new nuclear power plant since 1974 moves toward regulatory approval, an environmental group on Monday renewed calls for the U.S. Department of Energy to release details about its $8.3 billion loan guarantee for the project.
The Southern Alliance for Clean Energy says the agency is “resisting any meaningful public disclosure” about taxpayer risk related to the credit subsidy for The Southern Co., which broke ground last year on two new nuclear reactors at an existing power plant in Georgia.
