Oracle Rejects $272M SAP Award, Seeks New Trial

Law360, New York (February 06, 2012, 9:43 PM ET) -- Oracle Corp. on Monday rejected a California federal judge's reduction of a $1.3 billion jury verdict against SAP AG in a copyright infringement suit over SAP's acquisition of a now-defunct subsidiary and requested a new trial.

The company said it couldn't accept the $272 million award issued by U.S. District Judge Phyllis Hamilton because it would would force Oracle to risk waiving its right to appeal her decision on the motions for judgment as a matter of law and for a new trial.
