AOL Dupes Customers Into Paying For Checkup Program: Suit

Law360, New York (February 8, 2012, 6:06 PM EST) -- A consumer launched a putative class action in New York federal court Monday accusing AOL Inc. and designer SDC Software Inc. of tricking customers into continuing to use a computer checkup program after a free-trial period had expired.

AOL markets and sells AOL Computer Checkup, a program designed by SDC Software that can purportedly identify, report and repair a wide range of computer problems in order to increase start-up speeds, optimize performance and remove security risks, according to the complaint filed by consumer Tim Batchelor....
