US Adds NL Industries To Omaha Superfund Cleanup Suit

Law360, New York (February 10, 2012, 8:03 PM ET) -- The U.S. government sued NL Industries Inc. on Thursday, demanding in Nebraska federal court that the company repay the costs of responding to lead contamination at an Omaha Superfund site.

The government has spent more than $240 million responding to environmental issues within the Superfund site and NL owns two defunct lead production facilities that contributed to contamination in the area, according to a lawsuit filed by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Nebraska Attorney General.
