Judge OKs 3 New Bellwethers In NuvaRing MDL

Law360, New York (February 13, 2012, 7:33 PM EST) -- A Missouri federal judge named three new cases as bellwethers Monday in the multidistrict litigation accusing Merck & Co. Inc. of downplaying the health risks of contraceptive NuvaRing.

U.S. District Judge Rodney W. Sippel ordered the cases to replace three cases that either had been voluntarily dismissed or featured a nonresponsive plaintiff. The depositions of the plaintiffs in the three cases should be finished by May 15, and fact discovery should be finished by July 30, according to the judge's order.
