2nd Circ. Reinforces NY Shield Law In Goldman Sachs Case

Law360, New York (February 15, 2012, 4:52 PM ET) -- Attorneys cross-examining journalists about their reporting can't be barred from probing issues raised during direct examination, the Second Circuit said Wednesday in a precedential decision that hurt a suit over Goldman Sachs Group Inc.'s role in a merger and appeared to strengthen New York’s shield law.
