Pregnancy Bias In Workplace Still Widespread: EEOC Panel

Law360, New York (February 15, 2012, 5:29 PM EST) -- Despite a longstanding law protecting pregnant women in the workforce, discrimination is rampant and needs to be curbed by greater enforcement efforts and clearer guidance from the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, an expert panel told the agency Wednesday.

Even with the Pregnancy Discrimination Act and the Family and Medical Leave Act on the books, the number of pregnancy discrimination charges has increased by as much as 35 percent in the past 10 years, according to agency statistics.
