White House Seeks To Lump Commerce, 5 Trade Agencies

Law360, New York (February 16, 2012, 5:49 PM EST) -- The White House formally requested authority from Congress on Thursday to move forward with plans to combine six different trade-related agencies into a single entity in order to help the government run more effectively.

In a letter to Speaker of the House John Boehner, R-Ohio, the Obama administration called on Congress to enact legislation that would reinstate an authority granted to past presidents to streamline and reform the executive branch.
