Long-Awaited EPA Report Finds No Dioxin Health Risk

Law360, New York (February 17, 2012, 7:31 PM EST) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Friday assured the public that its current level of exposure to dioxins does not pose a significant health risk, releasing its first assessment of the noncancer effects of this exposure in more than 25 years.

The agency’s noncancer science assessment for dioxins — which was last reviewed in 1985 — found that most Americans had low-level exposure to dioxins and that the amount of this toxic chemical released into the environment had decreased significantly since the 1980s.
