Amcor, Aperio Deal May Curb Competition: Aussie Watchdog

Law360, New York (February 24, 2012, 6:51 PM EST) -- Amcor Ltd.'s proposed deal with Aperio Group Pty. Ltd. has come under fire by Australia's antitrust authority, which said Thursday that the tie-up might seriously diminish competition in the country's packaging market.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission said it would seek further comment in its investigation of Amcor's proposed acquisition of Aperio, after a first round of reviews showed the deal would combine two of the top three manufacturers of flexible food and beverage packaging and remove Aperio, Amcor's biggest rival, from the market....
