Law360, New York (March 2, 2012, 1:01 PM EST) -- During the past few years, there has been a boom in patent infringement litigation in the United States, driven by investors who acquire patents and sue companies that provide technology products and services (patent assertion entities or “PAEs”). There were 1,147 such cases filed in 2011, naming over 2,600 separate companies. Those numbers will climb higher in 2012.
