NYU's Massive Expansion Plan Rejected By Community Board

Law360, New York (February 24, 2012, 3:02 PM EST) -- A Manhattan community board unanimously rejected New York University's 20-year, 2.4-million-square-foot expansion plan late Thursday after weeks of protests from local residents about traffic congestion and zoning restrictions.

The community board said it would recommend that the Department of City Planning deny the university's request for zoning changes that would allow it to add two new skyscrapers, a new gym, a hotel and other facilities to its campus in the Greenwich Village neighborhood.
