Latham Helps Blackstone Put $2B Into LNG Project

Law360, New York (February 27, 2012, 2:20 PM ET) -- Affiliates of New York private equity firm Blackstone Group have agreed to inject $2 billion into a proposed $10 billion shale gas export project in Louisiana led by Houston-based Cheniere Energy Inc., the companies announced Monday.

The deal is a significant milestone for the energy giant's proposed Sabine Pass project, and will help cover the costs of developing two liquefaction trains, currently estimated to have a construction price tag of $4.5 billion to $5 billion, Cheniere said.
