Urban Outfitters In Hot Water Over 'Navajo' Trademark

Law360, New York (February 29, 2012, 2:27 PM EST) -- The Navajo Nation American Indian tribe sued Urban Outfitters Inc. on Tuesday, arguing that the retailer is infringing its trademarks by marketing a line of clothing and other products under the "Navajo" name.

The tribe says that since at least March 2009, Urban Outfitters has sold goods under the Navaho and Navajo names and marks on the Internet and in stores across the U.S. that compete directly with the Navajo Nation’s own retail goods.
