Law360, New York (February 29, 2012, 6:19 PM ET) -- A California federal judge rejected a motion from a former Sunrise Senior Living Management Inc. caregiver Tuesday that sought certification of several classes in a meal and rest break suit, saying adjudicating the case as a class action would require numerous “mini-trials.”
U.S. District Judge John Kronstadt shot down Lashone Purnell's class certification motion, which proposed three classes covering more than 60 job classifications — including nurses, dietitians and cooks — and, according to Sunrise, about 13,000 people.
